After the continuous success MMORPGs have achieved over the past years, none of those games have achieved the same longevity, prosperity, and accomplishments of Blizzard's World of Warcraft Franchise.
It has become more than a game for most people; it's a world of infinite possibilities with various actions that can cater to a wide variety of people. What is great about this world is that your age, gender, ethnicity, or nationality does not matter, since we are all in it, together, to explore the vast continents of Azeroth and beyond. So, let's dive deep into WoW's current expansion and see how things have fared for it and the community.
When it comes to the class system, I've dabbled in most classes and I can safely say that this is the first time I had actually played each one for a certain amount of time; I felt like melee classes were just more fun for me.
Hunters might be the only ranged class I was comfortable with, but the rest seemed a bit difficult to master. But maybe I'm being biased since I've played melee since TBC.
Anyway, I do admit that it was pretty fun playing every class and I love the fact that the game gives you an option to play a specific class at a higher level for a short time with their Trial class feature; I think it gives people the chance to choose the class they want to continue with, throughout the game.
When it comes to the main class I chose, the Ret paladin, I REALLY enjoyed the gameplay. I feel like they've helped the class, a little bit, when it comes to movement, but it still remains one of the weakest points for it.
I was still a powerhouse most of the time, when it comes to DPS; you could too, if you time things right and know how to play the class. However, extreme bursts of damage alone aren't enough for longer fights and encounters.
Another thing I noticed was that, compared to other classes in my experience, the damage went lower periodically if movement was involved, which is extremely evident in different fights. But overall, it was a fun class to play and the aspects of it were nice, even though I miss my guardian of ancient kings and I'm still upset that they removed it for Rets!
When it comes to PVP, I feel like they did a great job in BFA; most classes feel like they can counter each other properly in certain ways; the creators tried their best to balance things out so that “Battlegrounds and Arenas” were fair. Although, there will always be those few classes that make everything just terrible; like tanks in arena camps for example.
However, judging from past experience, I wasn't too shocked by that, since it was a common occurrence. Nerfs or buffs would come in every now and then, but I still felt comfortable PVP'ing with my Ret.
But there's something that I'm disappointed with; the honor system has become a mess. And the worst part about it is that before this expansion, I had the highest level honor ranking, which means for future content I should be moving forward.
But sadly, the new system changed things, thus pushing me way back in the ranking. I still feel like this isn't fair, because I'm currently grinding for honor ranks that I've achieved previously, making the game dull.
The system was good for people who did the previous rankings multiple times with alts, so they achieved a high rank now. But sadly, doing the honor grind once was enough for me. Anyways, hopefully the people in a similar situation like me could catch up after a few years...
When it comes to PVE, I feel like there are numerous things that can be done that it's overwhelming, nevertheless it's actually quite fun. You have three zones for the Alliance and three for the Horde, with different quest chains that takes you to each other's zones. It was pretty enjoyable and I loved the different storylines and side quests.
Also, I enjoyed the campaign quests; the story was very riveting and I liked how it all panned out. Some things could have been done better, but the lore in the game is just amazing, regardless.
Dungeons were interesting, some were a bit excessive, because they had a ton of trash mobs; it was particularly annoying in the Mythic+ runs, but I guess the various affixes made up for that and kept things interesting. Some weeks those M+ runs were good and some were bad; it all depended on your luck.
The raids were interesting, Uldir was new, exciting to see the mix of old god corruptions and titan facilities; it reminded me of Ulduar back in WOTLK and I loved that raid. Battle for Dazar'alor was extremely fun and enjoyable; the second tier seemed cool, even with the difficulties behind each boss.
I absolutely loved the Jaina fight and I feel like it was the best fight in this expansion. Crucible of Storms was difficult and very annoying, even though it had only two bosses. The Eternal Palace raid was very fun, I personally love water-based content and I feel like the Blackwater Behemoth fight was memorable and fun.
We finally got to see Azshara and it was nice tussling with her after all these years. I am super excited about the next tier with Ny'alotha, The Waking City, which will come out soon.
The art and cinematic team have really outdone themselves in this expansion; remarkable interface features, and new spell animations were over the top. Also, the breath-taking visuals and superb music was a nice touch to make this game so much better.
Introducing Allied races was a great idea to keep things fresh and exciting; I loved the idea behind unlocking each race through a series of quest chains and story development.
The game has its ups and downs, whether it's not having the fulfillment factor when it comes to gear anymore, or the fact that most things depend on luck compared to previous expansions.
But it's still fun to play and I have so much stuff to do that I can't keep up. There are several cool and amazing cosmetics, mounts, pets, and transmog to farm. I definitely advise you to play this game because you are bound to find something enjoyable to do.
