Rihanna’s makeup line launch celebrated inclusivity. She set the perfect example with a proper shade range of 40 shades which she released with Fenty beauty; the shade range was then updated to include 10 more shades for a total of 50 shades.
It’s supposed to offer a medium to full coverage with the promise of being long wear and “light as air”. For 1.08 oz or 32ml, it retails for $35. The formula dries kind of fast, but not too fast to be able to blend on the skin.
The formula oxidizes slightly so it’s better to either try the shade in the store before purchasing it or going a shade down than your actual tone if you are shopping online. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing since the oxidization process ends up in your favor since it allows the formula to adapt to your skin shade and sets the foundation.
While the product can be applied beautifully using a damp sponge, it’s better applied with a foundation brush which Fenty also released as a part of this launch that is a perfect fit for applying their foundation.
The product is buildable, but it can definitely provide you with an over-the-top full coverage moment with a matte dry finish. This specifically suits people with oily skin who worry about shine or magnified pores.
The foundation is definitely a good choice for them with its matte finish that diffuses any appearance of pores to give you an airbrushed look. You can take it to the next level and try out their blotting powder to absorb shine for “an instant filtered look”.
After setting the foundation and finishing contouring the face, you can easily notice that the foundation didn’t move regardless of applicator that is used, as it won’t pick up the product. This, on its own, is a huge plus point.
Overall, the foundation deserves a solid 9 out of 10 for the inclusivity they took into account with their shade range and the beautiful airbrush matte finish.
