The Office - Season 7 - Review

With plentiful guest-stars reeling in front of the camera in most episodes, season 7 of The Office cannot exactly be deemed as one of the best sets of the show. A lot of episodes disappoint due to sheer lack of vehement anecdotes. However, it is still a bit more amiable as compared to the last season. Guest stars like Jim Carrey, Will Arnet, James Spader, Warren Buffett, Ray Romano, and Catherine Tate appear in “The Search Committee” episode.

The plot of this season focuses on Micheal Scott and Holly Flax and their will-they-won’t-they relationship. She returns to the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin as Toby leaves the HR position and they end up getting engaged.

This season particularly sucks because Steve Carell officially resigns from the show and the creators decide to continue the storyline based on supporting characters and plausible replacements for the regional manager position.

My favorite episode among all should be “Goodbye Micheal” that seemed like a series finale. All characters collectively sing for Micheal as a farewell ode (a remix of the classic Rent hit, “Seasons of Love”), which is heartbreaking and delectable at the same time. Fun fact: Steve Carell heard the cast sing for the first time on camera and his emotions were actually real. The cast was known to be in a deeper grief as compared to the characters.

“Threat Level Midnight” can probably be deemed as the best episode of the show (well, at least for me). The episode shows a movie created by Micheal Scott that stars all characters. There’s not one dull moment throughout the episode. “PDA” and “Garage Sale” are other noteworthy episodes that enhance the credibility of this show.

What’s more? Will Ferrell makes for a cringey boss, a quick appearance by Ricky Gervais (the show’s producer), and no more Micheal hereafter.
