The Office - Season 9 - Review

Season 9 of The Office is the final season of the awe-inspiring and legendary show. The season shows numerous extraordinary moments of the lot. The cameramen shooting the documentary finally appears on screen, Robert California leaves, and the much-awaited appearance of Micheal Scott happens in the last episode.

Steve Carell left the show after shooting season 7, which had a major impact on the storyline and consecutive quality. The 8th season is earnestly prejudicial, which lowers a viewer’s expectations for season 9. Surprisingly enough, the show picks up and the storyline steadily gets back on track. Either it’s the emotional clamp or the writers actually did a good job. Nonetheless, the finale season definitely succeeds.

Other old characters that make a brief appearance are Jan and Roy. Even though they are shown in a lighter retrospect, you can still expect momentous twists. There are still a few dull episodes that can plausibly be included in the list of ‘the worst episodes of The Office’.

The writing and execution of some of the supposedly to-be great moments was sloppy and dipped in quality. For instance, the reveal of the camera-crew should have been a remarkable juncture, which actually led nowhere. Andy isn’t on most of the episodes (mainly because Ed Helms was away shooting for The Hangover Part III) and the writers couldn’t be less bothered to give his absence enough justice.

A cringeworthy moment displayed Pam and Brian (one of the guys in the camera-crew) getting closer. I am sure every other fanatic hated it. Jim is just too good for Pam (and I won’t take my words back). Special credits to the finale episode “A.A.R.M.” That tied all stories together and gave a deserving end to the season and show. In this episode, Dwight and Angela get married, Kelly and Ryan run away, and Micheal makes a cameo.

Basically, the last episode catches the essence of the classic show, even if the season isn’t one of the best sets.
